Recently, a BCCI secretary announced that India would not participate in the 2023 Asia Cup, and he proposed the idea of holding the tournament at a neutral venue. The PCB also threatened to pull out of the 2020 ODI World Cup, which will be held after the Asia Cup in India. Ramiz Raja recently dismissed from his role as PCB chairman, commented on past occasions when teams refused to play in Pakistan and what happened next.

Ramiz urged the board members to refrain from bowing to India's demands and show some leadership.

When ACC has asked Pakistan to host a tournament, and then India says they won't travel to Pakistan and shift the tournament to a neutral venue, what should be the response? Ramiz said on Dunya News that "What is leadership? Are we servant of India just because they are a world power in cricket? Should we listen to everything they say?)."

The 60-year-old feels that the Pakistan team and the fans deserve more respect than now.

Ramiz Raja added, "We will think, will we get isolated? We'll ask permission from the government then talks will move further. These are signs of bad leadership. The Pakistan cricket team is enjoying a great run, and you have a good fan following. You have superstars, so please give your team and fans the respect they deserve."
